well, the simple answer would be yes. since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a global emergency on August 14, 2024. but diving deeper, some people may think it isn’t that deep till we see the rate of infections or mortality rate. so here, we’re doing all things M-pox and seeing if it really is a global health emergency.

starting off with the symptoms, monkeypox (M-pox) is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus in the species genus orthopoxvirus. there are two different versions that exist: clade I and clade II. it can cause a skin rash and Musocal Leisons which can last two to four weeks accompanied by fever, headaches, muscle aches, back pain, lowered energy and swollen lymph nodes.

the worrisome thing about this virus isn’t the rate of infection because, with the right precautions, it can be eradicated but the mortality rate. now, everyone knows of the monkeypox announced two years ago which was the clade II. the most recent one found and spreading rapidly in Congo is the clade I. clade I viruses as a whole have a higher mortality rate than clade II which is very worrysome.

if you were to have been infected with M-pox, immediately tell all of your close relatives or people you were close with because it can be spread through touch and make sure not to touch your lesions until the layer comes off. the one announced in 2022-2023 was spread by sexual intercourse so it was easier for it to be put under control but with the help of people all around the world, we can overcome this new strain of M-pox as well. please make sure to watch the video down below to be more informed.
